The Tibetan name for their land, Bod བོད་, means “Tibet” or “Tibetan Plateau”, although it originally meant the central region around Lhasa, now known in Tibetan as Ü. Similarly, Tibet is a most wonderful and beautiful land. The majority of this land rests above 4000 meters (13,000 feet) and is partially surrounded by mountain ranges.
